There are weekends that are filled to the brim with activity and then there are weekends that have that perfect mix of down time and play time. This past weekend was the latter for me, and I love when I wake up Monday morning, refreshed and invigorated to tackle the week ahead.
I mentioned before that I was on a serious strawberry kick this summer and after the Strawberries and Cream Cheesecake, I tackled some seriously delicious Bordeaux Strawberry Ice Cream. The idea of combining three of my favourite things, strawberries, ice cream and wine was almost too much to handle. I’ve made homemade strawberry ice cream before, but this recipe with the addition of the Bordeaux wine takes it to another level. I can’t think of a better dessert to serve to guests this upcoming August long weekend.

The weather in YYC has been unseasonably hot, and while I’m not complaining about it, it certainly presents its own variety of challenges when choosing an outfit in the morning. I find when the temperature inches as high as it has, I don’t want anything heavy or binding. Anything that feels like it’s adding heat is automatically out of the running. Thankfully though, the genius invention of the maxi dress has been my saving grace, and the fact that I was able to find one in a breathable silk is just about the same as hitting a grand slam in game 7. Am I right ladies?

This past weekend was truly what summer is all about. I spent the majority of my time outside, attending one of my closest friend’s little girl’s birthday party at the zoo, and taking in some incredible music and amazing atmosphere at the Calgary Folk Festival. It reminded me so much of summers as a little girl, when we would head out in the mornings and stay out as late as we could, trying to squeeze in every little second of summer that we could. The August long weekend is coming up, and while I have no encompassing plans, I hope it’s as much of a repeat as this last one as possible.

I had the most fabulous time being apart of and hosting the Calgary location for LE CHÂTEAU‘s Meet the Blogger event last Saturday. I can recall my own memorable LE CHÂTEAU experiences, while living in Edmonton and attending university. There was a boutique location within walking distance of my apartment, and I distinctly remember how exciting it was for myself and my girlfriends to outfit up before heading out on the town. The brand has grown up alongside their customer, and their collections offer fabulous transitional work apparel, event wear and casual wardrobe items.
I spent the day ogling the Italian-made Anne B. pour Le Château Footwear Collection, wandering through the newest apparel collections, and drooling over the fabulous jewellery. The event was made even more marvelous as I got to spend it with Charles and Sarah and their fabulous team at The Core location in downtown Calgary. A bright, airy, two-story space that doesn’t feel as though it’s in a mall, but more like it’s own free-standing boutique. Funny how some things can come full circle.
