I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. When in doubt while getting dressed, always opt for the dress. I love summer, for an obscenely large number of reasons, including cocktails on the patio, bike rides along the river and late night sunsets. But most importantly, I love it for the attire. One can get lost in the mix and match game of tops and bottoms, but a dress provides so much ease on those mornings when puzzle play isn’t your forte. I can dress this little number up for a night on the town, or casual it down for a little picnic in the park. Seriously, it doesn’t get any better than this.

The weather in Calgary gave us grief well into spring, but the last few weeks have been nothing short of gorgeous summer weather. I had a moment of panic the other day, fretting over the passing of time and worried that summer was coming to a close. Thankfully I realized that it was still only July, and there are so many exciting items left on my summer itinerary. But my favourite would definitely be the easy, unplanned evenings spent on my back deck, watching each day fade brilliantly away.

It’s funny how often we get stuck in a rut in our fashion, it can be difficult to get inspired and try something new. I’ve mentioned before just how many times I’ve overlooked a fabulous pair of shorts in favour of a skirt or dress. This summer however, I’ve been fully embracing a switch up, and am amazed at how many options there are. From casual to fancy, I’ve fallen hard, and this pair of lace shorts are at the top of my list.

I spent last weekend out on the West Coast celebrating the wedding of one of my dearest girlfriends. The venue on Salt Spring Island was like a dream, many times so perfect and picturesque you almost had to pinch yourself to confirm you were indeed, awake. The bride embodied wedded bliss, and it was such an honour to be apart of such a special day. I had a short stop over in Vancouver on my way home and got to spend some time with two more of my closest girlfriends. There’s something about time spent with ladies like these that is just so good for the soul. Here’s to a fabulous weekend ahead my friends.
