Advent-Calendars-2015-1

About three or four years ago I came across, what I consider, the most ingenious gift idea ever.  It was a nail polish advent calendar by Ciaté London, and was my first foray into Advent Calendar gifting.  I gifted one to each of my girlfriends near and far, and to say they were a hit would be a complete and utter understatement.  I packaged them up and sent them out in November to ensure each lady had her package in time for the first day of the month.  Which meant, I was nearly done all of my gifting by December 1st.  What more could one ask for?!  I’m showing you seven options here, that range from 12 days of giving to a full 24 days.  Wait not my friends, these items will be long gone by the time December rolls around, and we wouldn’t you left in a lurch, would we.

  1. Lush 12 Days of Christmas
  2. L’Occitane Holiday 2015 Advent Calendar
  3. Ciaté London Mini Mani Month
  4. The Body Shop 24 Days of Happy Advent Calendar
  5. Benefit Cosmetics 12 Days of Gorgeous
  6. David’s Tea 12 Teas of Christmas
  7. Charlotte Tilbury Book of Make-Up Magic

While it’s probably evident, partially due to my lack of posting, as well as my current ‘knocked up’ situation, I haven’t been following the fashion trends for my personal wardrobe this season.  I’m ogling from afar and wishing so badly I could participate.  But when you’re dealing with maternity clothing and a new body shape, investing any amount of money into clothing is about as appealing as your car breaking down on the freeway.  The 70s trend going on right now is tops and when I came across this maternity dress that had a bohemian flare, I was ecstatic about all the ways I could style it this fall.  I’m warning you now, this isn’t the last time you’ll see this number on the blog before the year is out.

Cape-Love

My outerwear situation this winter is looking bleak, but I’m enthralled with the abundance of options of one of my favourite styles, the cape.  Coloured, textured, long, short, pricey, or fabulously reasonable, there truly is something for everyone.  I’ve collected some of my favourites, and perhaps it’s a good thing my maternity situation doesn’t allow me to fit into anything this year.  Otherwise the cape section in my closet would be expanding tenfold.

Ghost-Cake-Pops-5

This past weekend marked the fifth anniversary of my annual Halloween Fright Nite.  It’s become a tradition that I look forward to, carefully planning out my costume, polishing the winner’s trophy and diligently contemplating the menu.  While the party is usually bustling with high RSVP numbers, this year there seemed to be a lot going on, so attendance was projected to be lower than usual.  Instead of dwelling on how to keep the party going, I decided to take a different route, and this year planned out a Murder Mystery through Shot in the Dark Mysteries.  It turned out to be a fabulous night of sleuthing and investigation, and was only enhanced by the delicious ghost cake pops, which were made using the fabulous Bakerella’s guide.  Was it Colonel Mustard with the candlestick in the library, or was it Nurse White with the fire poker in the kitchen, I wish I could tell you but you’ll have just have to play for yourselves.

I have to apologize, I’ve been MIA from the blog the past couple of weeks, but for very good reason, I promise.  Two weekends ago I was showered, literally, with love from my female friends and family from near and far in a ridiculously beautiful baby shower hosted by my Mom.  I was spoiled silly, and I left feeling so incredibly loved and so blessed to have such amazing women in my life.  I was even surprised by a couple of my closet friends from Vancouver, and I can’t even put into words how much the entire affair meant to me.  It also left me thankful that a good number of my friends have children, because their wealth of knowledge is going to be invaluable in the upcoming 18 years.
