I popped downtown last night to meet a friend for dinner and drinks. The weather in Calgary has been gorgeous, but last night called for thundershowers. To mix it up a bit I decided to pull out my summer boots that never seem to get enough road time. They are meant for spring/summer, but often get neglected in favor of something about four inches higher. Last night solidified my love, and I’ve vowed to put more miles on them this summer. After all, these boots are definitely made for walking.

I had a dear friend come and visit from out of town recently (I used my guidelines to help prep for her arrival) and before heading to dinner one night I decided to give her a lovely lilac eye. Needless to say, she pretty much had to beat the men off with a stick.
Start with placing the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer from lash line all the way to your brow bone. This is what will hold your shadow in place and guarantee no creases throughout the day. Use the Stila Chinios Eyeshadow under your brow bone down to the crease.
Place the MAC Digit Eyeshadow from your lash line on the lid all the way up to your crease, blending where they meet.
Using a crease brush, place the MAC Crystal Eyeshadow in your crease.
Apply the MAC Idol Eyes Eyeshadow on top of the MAC Crystal Eyeshadow for a deeper crease and more dimension. If going for a more dramatic look, you can wet your brush before applying the shadow.
Use the MAC Smolder Eye Kohl to create a line from your inner eye, along the lash line, to your outer eye. Use a smudge brush to gently blend the top of the line.
Set the eyeliner with MAC Shadowy Lady Eyeshadow and go over again with the smudge brush to blend and smooth the top of the line.
Using the MAC Smolder Eye Kohl, draw a line one third of the way across with bottom of your lashes. Use your finer or smudge brush to smooth out the line and drag it towards your inner eye. Set the liner with the MAC Shadowy Lady on the first third, the MAC Idol Eyes on the second third, and the MAC Digit on the last third and inner eye area. Finish the look with the Oasis Blush and the MAC Lipglass.
If there’s one thing my friends and family know about me, it’s that I have an unrelenting sweet tooth. Cookies, candy, ice cream, chocolate, I don’t discriminate when it comes to sugary concoctions. So when I saw the recipe for chocolate fudge brownies with all the add-ins, I knew I had to give them a go. I found the recipe in the Magnolia Bakery Cookbook, and to lower the guilt up the cuteness factor, I decided to make them in small, one-bite squares. Needless to say I will definitely be making these little bites of deliciousness again soon.

Other than fashion one of my greatest interests lies in sport and athletics. I grew up playing hockey and I was lucky to reconnect with an old teammate upon moving back to Calgary. She, along with her husband own a boutique gym called Stenia Health & High Performance. This is where I go to get my sweat on a couple of times a week. Obviously cute outfits help with my performance level, although the eye candy at the gym doesn’t hurt either.

There are two things that I can’t get enough of this summer, florals and Ford, Tom Ford that is. Lets be honest, the true show-pony of this ensemble is the handbag. The versatility, in both color and functionality is what sold me. I’ll be able to wear this bag well into autumn. Cross-body or on the shoulder, it does it all. It would probably run my errands too if I asked nicely.
