One sleep before Christmas and I have been baking, prepping, chopping and shopping non-stop for the past week now. I’m finally finished and am looking forward to taking in the food, family and festivities. Last year I made this gingerbread cake with cream cheese frosting from the Sweet Bake Shop cookbook, and it was a hit. I had come across an image for a cake topped off with chocolate trees just like this and was enchanted by the look and thrilled with the ease of execution. Of course it was a must make on my Christmas baking list this year. I used skewers and placed them on parchment, warmed some melting chocolate and piped it into trees. Easy, peasy, with an impact that looks anything but. Today will be spent with family, singing carols, reminiscing about Christmases gone by, and getting dressed up for our big Christmas Eve dinner. Whatever and wherever you may be, I wish you the Merriest Christmas, filled with family and friends.
