Wear-Now-Wear-Later

As the end of summer approaches and the fall fashions hit the stores, it can be a tricky time as a consumer to navigate your wardrobe.  The weather is calling for shorts, but boots, sweaters and coats are occupying the racks.  Have no fear my friends, I’m showing you how to plan ahead.  This fall is calling for all kinds of fabulous slouchy pants, and I’m demonstrating how I plan on wearing my own, both in the current weather, and later on.  Forget about saving items for future wear, it’s all about pairing them appropriately for the present.

Calgary had the perfect quintessential summer weather this past weekend, and I was basking in the beauty of it almost the entire weekend.  I love the late weeks in summer when the realization that fall is quickly approaching is blocked out by bike rides, drinks on the patio and summer runs in the early morning hours.  I’ve already pulled out some of my fall clothing, but until the breeze gets crisp, I plan on rocking my short skirts and sky high heels.

When the heat starts rising I trade in my hot coffee for the iced variety, there’s just no other way to get that jolt of caffeine in those early mornings.  Until I came across the recipe for Cappuccino Ice Pops that is.  They were so easy to make it almost felt like cheating, but the results speak for themselves.  So delicious I couldn’t stop at just two one, and by the time my taste testing was complete, I had a whole batch of new energy to tackle the day with.  I think that’s what you call a win-win.

Some days require outfits that are more accommodating for the practicality of real life.  But just because there are errands to run, it doesn’t mean you need to look sloppy doing so.  All summer long my go-to has been a comfy pair of shorts, often layered with tanks and sweaters and always finished off with a fab pair of flat sandals.  Getting groceries, walking the dogs, lunch with the girls, I can do it all in this comfy little ensemble.

Calgary has finally decided to smarten up about the summer weather situation and this week is forecasted to be beautiful.  Sunny days absolutely require flirty dresses, which means I get to put my jeans aside and hike up the hem line.  I’m looking forward to a week filled with gorgeous weather, outdoor activities and fabulous friends and family.  Oh and being productive at work, obviously.
