It’s a…
Let the shopping begin! The little one inside of me is indeed a little girl, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s interesting how much more real this experience became as soon as I found out the gender, and how much it’s helped in preparing for her arrival. I’m such a planner, and while I’ve learned you can’t control much in life, getting to prep some things, such as her nursery, has been so much fun. While we would have been thrilled with either a little guy or gal, there is something thrilling about expecting a daughter. I promise to share all the juicy decorating details as they start falling into place, but I think it’s obvious to say I’m starting with a consultation at Corea Sotropa.
Leopard Booties
Vince Tunic (similar here), Aritzia Faux Leather Leggings (similar here), Charlotte Olympia Booties (similar here and here), Escada Scarf, Chanel Handbag, Michael Kors Watch, David Yurman Bracelet
When I discovered I was pregnant I immediately made a promise to myself that I would not fall into the category of ‘frumpy’ pregnancy style. I didn’t want to don muumuus that hid my shape or have my high heels confiscated from beneath my feet. But let me tell you, the struggle has been real. Because in all honesty, all I want to wear is sweat pants, baggy tees and no bra. All I seem to see on social media are these amazing pregnant ‘unicorns’, who have managed to gain weight only in their tummy, (which looks like me pre-pregnancy after a large lunch), they can still fit in the same pants they did before getting knocked up, and they have an entire wardrobe dedicated to this nine month stage of life. This is so not my situation. Everyday is like the Davinci Code to find something comfortable and chic to don. But you know what, every time I feel a little kick inside, I’m reminded to take it easy on myself, because I’m growing a human being, from scratch. So bear with me as we navigate these treacherous waters of pregnancy style together.
Rain Day Essentials
Equipment Blouse, Paige Maternity Jeans, Burberry Trench, Rag & Bone Booties, Celine Handbag, Shinola Watch
When I lived on the West Coast I became an expert in dressing for the rain. Cute rubber boots, trendy trench coats, local made umbrellas, I had it down pat. So when the rain starts coming down it doesn’t deter me from venturing outside, quite the opposite. Although it’s hard to argue that the best way to spend a rainy day is curled up in front of the fire with a good book, sometimes the freshness the rain brings about it just as refreshing for the soul.
Dress and Sneaks
Isabella Oliver Dress, RAILS Shirt (similar colour here), Converse Sneakers, Chanel Handbag, Tiffany Necklace, David Yurman Bracelet
Transitioning my wardrobe from summer to winter can prove to be difficult, and it’s even more so this year with the addition of the ‘bump’. I picked up some of these Isabella Oliver dresses that easily go from casual wear with sneakers to more dressed up duds with heels and a blazer. The best part of a body con jersey dress, aside from the comfort, is that it’s a key piece that will get you from end of summer well into fall and winter. If you don’t believe me, just wait and see, these bad boys are going to be worn out by the time I’m done with them.
Early Fall Favourites
For so many reasons fall is my favourite season of all. Pumpkin Spice Lattes, the vibrant colours of the leaves on the trees, and fall fashions, obviously. While it can be hard to make the transition from fun, flouncy summer attire to the richer hues and heavier fabrics of fall, I’ve determined that tiptoeing in stages allows you to hold on to the denial of summer ending whilst preparing for the winter ahead. I’m sharing some of my top early fall favourites that can easily go from end of summer to end of winter with a few styling adjustments.
