We all have one.  For some it’s as small as a drawer and for others it’s an entire room.  It’s the place where the junk in the house goes to die.  I’m definitely the organizer of the family, and am often called to the line of fire for these types of organizational jobs.  In this case it was decided that this hoarding room would actually serve better use as a luxe guest room for fabulous out of town visitors.

It only took three hours to empty out the room and go through all of its contents.  We made piles of Keep, Donate and Discard, and made sure everything was packed away in airtight plastic bins.

It took another two hours the next day to disassemble and reassemble the bed and dress it up with beautiful bedding.  We hung pictures, brought in fresh flowers searched the house for frames, candles and trays and viola… a little bit of perfection.

These homeowners did their homework, and before touching the storage hoarding room, had a company come in to install shelving racks from their garage ceiling.   Now everything has a place and everything is in its place.  I’m crossing my fingers it stays this way.

Polka dots are one of those classic motifs that never seem to go out of style.  It appears that every season designers are able to recreate and style them into pieces I always drool over.  I decided to mix my dots with my petals for this outfit, and I love how the two patterns worked together.  I purchased these pumps while in New York last fall, and they are unlike anything else I have in my collection.  Yes, I acknowledge I have a slight problem when I have to refer to my shoes as an item in a collection.

*On a side note, no I did not get in an accident, the disaster that are my knees are a result of the Spartan Race I participated in this past weekend.

This past weekend was physically challenging, as I participated in the Spartan Race here in Calgary on Saturday, and followed that up with a long run on Sunday.  It left me wanting to put my feet up and relax with a cool cocktail by the end of it.  I found a delicious recipe for Prosecco Mojitos in Porch Parties for Outdoor Entertaining.  I absolutely love both mojitos and prosecco, so it seemed like an obvious match made in heaven.  The only thing I’m regretting is not coming across this concoction earlier in the summer.  I guess I’ll just have to double up to make up for lost time.

There are little feminine touches out there that constantly end up in my closet, despite my best efforts to exhibit self control.  Bows happen to fall in this category, especially when they’re done in a more sophisticated fashion, like my favorite belt.  I love how these bows created the perfect juxtaposition against my geometric dress.  The only issue is trying to stealthy loosen the belt a notch after a not-so-light lunch, in the most ladylike way of course.

I know I have been bragging as of late about how wonderful the weather in Calgary has been, but the last couple of days have been considerably cooler.  There always seems to be a moment in the summer where I sense fall is approaching, and the last couple of days have been just that.  It did however, give me the opportunity to pull out my military jacket that hasn’t seen much use this summer.  I’m already hyperventilating at the thought of packing my sun dresses away… good thing this weekend calls for nothing but sunshine, whew.
