Business Up Top, Party Below
J.Crew Sweater, Brooks Brothers Dress Shirt, Rag & Bone Denim, Wilfred by Aritzia Coat (similar here and here), Converse Sneakers (in white here), Chanel Handbag, Shinola Watch
While the East Coast is dealing with the worst blizzard in years, it’s been unexpectedly and unseasonably warm here in YYC. Hitting record temperatures in the mid teens (Celsius that is) has enabled Calgarians to trade in winter parkas for spring jackets. Personally, I love being able to don sneakers, flats and heels without having to worry about trudging through the snow. I’ll enjoy this warm weather while it lasts, and get some early wear out of those spring items that wouldn’t be making an appearance until late April.
Glam Sweat Suit
Tory Burch Sweater (Tunic version here), Tory Burch Skirt, Brooks Brothers Shirt, ASOS Bow, Saint Laurent Pumps, Alexander Wang Handbag, Shinola Watch
When I was young I can recall having a sweatsuit ensemble that consisted of a sweatshirt and sweat-skirt. It was emerald green in colour and I wore it to my Grade 1 school pictures, having that little outfit captured permanently in history. What made the whole situation even cooler was the fact my sister had the exact match, in purple. I loved that little ensemble, and when I came across the grown-up Tory Burch version I just about lost my shit. Of course there are upgrades to my adult version, such sparkles and a sophisticated colour palette, but the comfort and cool factor is still the same as it was back then.
Jumpsuit Joy
Mason by Michelle Mason Jumpsuit, Aritzia Camisole, Burberry Coat (similar here), Saint Laurent Pumps, Alexander Wang Handbag, Shinola Watch, Tiffany Bracelet, Tiffany Necklace
In what has unofficially become Office-Wear week here on Centre Street Style, I’m including what I’ve deemed a brilliant work wear choice. I initially bought this fabulous Mason jumpsuit for the holidays, to mix it up and don amidst all of the sequins and cocktail dresses. However, when paired with a camisole to cover up the plunging neckline, it instantly goes from winter formal to chic office attire. Let’s never assume there is only one function for an item of clothing again. Lesson learned.
Lace Blazer
Club Monaco Blouse (similar here), Alice + Olivia Jacket (similar here, here and here), Club Monaco Skirt (similar here), Dolce & Gabbana Belt, Wolford Nylons, Charlotte Olympia Pumps, Alexander Wang Handbag, J.Crew Earrings, Shinola Watch
For 2015 I’m challenging myself to take on new experiences, whatever they may be. First up, office temp for the next week in downtown Calgary. I have to say, for a creative spirit like myself, being confined to an office for eight hours a day without a sewing machine, drawing materials or anything fashion related, made me wonder why I had signed up for such a thing. And then I thought about all of the killer office ensembles I could wear, and the rest is history.
Game Day Gear
Touch Apparel by Alyssa Milano Shirt, Seahawks Jersey, Rag & Bone Denim, New Balance Sneakers, Celine Handbag, Shinola Watch, Tiffany Earrings
I had the pleasure of heading out West to cheer on the Seattle Seahawks in their first playoff game this past weekend. It was an incredible game, and the atmosphere was electric. It’s always tough attending sporting events, knowing what to wear. I hate filling my closet with items that are specific to one use only, and sports gear typically falls into that category. I can’t tell you how refreshing it was when Alyssa Milano started designing her Touch Apparel line. Imagine, fan apparel that’s not only designed and drafted for a woman, but is stylish enough to pull out with sneaks and ripped jeans, even when your team isn’t on the field. Needless to say I’ve stocked up, and I’m all set with a fresh look for this coming weekend to cheer on my boys.
