I’m the type of person who can brilliantly look into someone else’s wardrobe and determine what must go.  When it comes to my own closet, however, I become emotional and desperately cling to everything in sight.  So when I discovered that I had four three jean jackets hanging in my closet, the thought of getting rid of one of them started heart palpitations.  Luckily, I’ve been eying a denim vest as of late, and it hit me, why not make my own.  This is an incredibly simple and satisfying DIY, that gives new life and purpose into a piece that may be lacking its past luster.

Simply cut off the sleeves of your jacket

Sew down the seam, following the path of the stitching that is already there.

If proceeding without a sewing machine, use a hot glue gun to secure the underside of the seam.  If your jean jacket is a more rustic style, don’t worry about securing the seams as a frayed edge may look more appropriate.
